The same query at phrases.ac.uk (posted Aug 2000) is ominously void of responses. FWIW, I reckon this combines older Brit colloquial 'blinding' (as minced oath) with the more literal 'dazzlingly...

OED2 lists the sense of "something 'dazzlingly' good or difficult, esp. an excellent piece of play in Rugby Football or Cricket. colloq.". Cited back to 1950.
